Resolution

I'm not a big one for New Year's resolutions. I'd rather resolve to do things on my own inner clock. Sometimes, however, I ignore the inner clock's alarm and hit the snooze button. There are a lot of things I should resolve to do as a blogger. Check out more events, keep up with new stores, credit poses more often (the one in this photo is from Diesel Works), among a million other things.

But number one on my resolution list is to reduce and/or better organize my inventory. I wrote about my inventory about a month ago and I'm ashamed to admit that the limited success I had made has completely evaporated as I grab more new releases by the fatpack! I'm at over 39,000 now! I hit 40K and panicked, deleting a bunch more duplicate landmarks.

So this is why I'm leaning against the closet doors (a great item from Digs - fake doors!) to hold my inventory at bay.

A Beautiful Mess

Oh Truth Hawks, I love you. The latest releases are inspired!  The new Gaia hair is casual and tousled and REAL! Just Call Me Casually Cool

Is there anyone in Second Life that doesn't love the clothes from Maitreya? Right now there are new releases that work beautifully together. The dress and short sleeve sweaters are fabulous! I haven't tried the sweater with other items yet, but I will!

My cute-as-can-be hat hair is a members' gift from Lelutka and Celoe. Members of either group can pick up the fatpack AND a new Christmas tree at either store.

I participated in a Secret Santa gift exchange in SL this year and really enjoyed chatting with my Secret Santa (who is no longer a secret and now on my friend list). The red and black rose Cannibelle tights are one of my gifts from Santa. I wanted tights and stockings with SLink appliers and she delivered! Thanks so much Pink Cardboard!

Hair Fix and other Addictions

There are a lot of great new things to talk about in this picture. First among them is that Truth is back to work *cracks her whip* and has released five new hairs! Plenty of you know about Truth Hair withdrawal. It's only been a few weeks that he hasn't released new hair, but it was a tough few weeks for me!

My new sort-of-schoolgirl vest, shirt and skirt is Tee*fy's new release for Collabor88. I had to get several color combinations and had the toughest time deciding what to show. The owl pendant is an Arcade Gacha item from Maxi Gossamer. Pretty cute, huh?

The new Maya skin, which I'm in love with, is also from The Arcade Gacha Event, a release from The Skinnery. It was the first time I'd tried any skin from that store and I was surprised how much I liked it. Do you ever try on a new skin and say, "Oh shit," because you were hoping it wouldn't appeal to you? I do it all the time, mostly because my skin choices keep getting bigger and bigger (and so does my inventory - don't ask). There's a realism to this skin that makes it different from some of my other favorites. Appliers for our SLink hands and feet are available at the Skinnery Mainstore. I'll be keeping my eye out for more skins from this store, and a full line of this particular skin.

I coveted this new release coldLogic cardigan outfit the moment I saw it. There are plenty of color combinations in the fatpacks, but the red and black spoke to me of holiday spirit. The tree is great too, isn't it? It's sold by Purple Poses at an event called Winter Trends 2013. It has four built in Christmas poses for us snap happy bloggers, or you can use it alone for decoration.

Collabor88 - December Edition

There is a lot to love at this December's Collabor88. The wintery theme suits my wintery sim. There are three outstanding homes at Collabor88 to keep us sheltered until the spring weather comes. I'm standing in front of the LISP home, the smallest of the three. I like small. It comes in snowy and non-snowy versions which is good if you don't like changing your home the way you change your dress.

Also from Collabor88 is this adorable coat/dress from The Secret Store, and the bow hair from Clawtooth. It's rare for me to walk around in the same thing for three days, but I made an exception for this ensemble.

It's the Principle of the Thing

It's all over the news that the National Security Agency has conducted surveillance in Second Life and World of Warcraft to find terrorists. The New York Times reports that in 2007 a Linden Lab executive made a presentation to the NSA about Second Life. I do remember some kerfuffle about possible terrorists hanging out with us in 2008 in a Congressional hearing. That died down pretty quickly and I sort of forgot about it. Have spy agencies been following me around in SL? Watching me shop and chat with friends? Watched me get NAKED? Some random guy IM'ed me the other day to tell me he liked my legs. Should I worry that he might be some virtual James Bond out to discover my secrets?

I don't really have much expectation of privacy about what I tell other avatars in SL. I do expect, however, that Linden Lab guard my privacy by requiring duly executed court warrants to view my financial data or chat logs. Do I have anything to hide? Not really, but that isn't the point, is it? It's the principle of the thing. Every heard of McCarthyism? The term comes from the witch hunts for Communists in the 1950's spearheaded by one Senator Joseph McCarthy. Based on nothing more than gossip and rumors good people lost their jobs, and were sometimes jailed due to the hysteria about Communist infiltration. Just substitute "terrorist" for "Communist," and you'll see my point.

If you're wondering what this picture has to do with spying on terrorists, it doesn't. That's also part of the point.

PXL Creations is teasing us with a pre-release of his new skin, Mia for the fabulous Miamai Black Label show, The Golden Thread. There are three skin tones and three makeups of lovely Mia available now in his mainstore. I can't wait to see the full line!

Let It Fall

Can you tell that I feel sexy in my oh-so-tall SLink Pricilla stilettos? Siddean Munro added some new colors to three new releases and sent a gift to those of us who participated in a questionnaire about which colors we wanted to see. All of the new shoes designed for the brand new high feet are now available at the SLink mainstore.

I've been lately seeing some poses with great prop hair on Flickr and blogs I follow, so I had to check it out for myself. What do i mean by the term "prop hair?" Well, I wouldn't wear these just walking around but for certain poses a regular hair just doesn't look quite right. There are two gorgeous prop hairs at Argrace, a store that has been around for a long time but is new to me. I love how my tresses fall behind me in this pose. The hair comes with five great poses, but for this picture I used the Diesel Works Bella Chair prop to show off shoes and hair together.

The skin I'm showing so much of is a preview of PXL Creation's Mia. This is a three makeup, three skintone pre-release for the Black Label Fashion event. I'll be showing you more of this lovely new skin tomorrow. Uh - by that I mean a close up of the face. I know what you were thinking! ;-P

Jalwa Skin at We Love Roleplay

Jalwa Skins keep getting better and better. Creator Chandra Masala has a lovely new specialty skin at the latest We <3 Roleplay event. It come in the goth shade with or without white eyebrows and a closed or open mouth version. Appliers for our SLink hands and feet are available at the main store. Since I wasn't exactly in a fantasy mood but loved the makeup and parted lips, I went for the no brow version and added Mynerva brows from my inventory. It works, doesn't it? I may need to go on an eyebrow buying spree just to mix things up for new looks with my skins.

I can't get enough of my new mesh eyes from IKON, currently at FaMeshed. I'm going to go back to get another color or three.

Cracked Mirror's Trench Coat at FaMeshed

Every time any of my favorite designers release a coat for the season I tend to snap it up. When I'm cold in real life I tend to want to see my avatar all bundled up as well. The double breasted trench coat from Cracked Mirror keeps me warm and is also versatile enough to wear into Spring. It layers well over skinny jeans and leggings. Winter Is Coming

The point of today's post is Strawberry Singh's weekly meme. This week we're going to talk about the winter season. I just turned our home sim to winter (surprise April and Ayla!) with the help of Alex Bader's gorgeous Studio Skye textures and landscaping so taking a photo was easy. On to the challenge.

1. What is the December/Winter season like where you live? – I live in Ohio bordering Kentucky. We get snow most years, but not like they do further north. People transplanted from snowier climates snicker at how panicked we get when we're expecting a snowstorm. They all claim we don't know how to drive in the snow which may be true. But those superior northern snow drivers are used to driving on snow where roads lie flat. We're a city of hills, some quite steep. Go ahead Chicagoans! Stop at that red light at the bottom of Ravine Street and hope the bus behind you manages to stop, too!
2. When you think of winter, what’s the first thing that pops into your head? – When I think about it it's romantic. Soft sweaters, cuddling under down comforters, hot chocolate with marshmallows, that sort of thing. Reality is different. Scraping car windows, shoveling sidewalks, hoping the ice storm doesn't break limbs off of trees and knock down power lines.
3. Have you ever played any extreme winter sports? – When my two sons were little I decided we would all learn how to ski. We needed some outdoor activity for the winter. I'm glad I made that decision. The boys are pretty good skiers - one has also taken up snowboarding - while I have always been happy making my way slowly down the green slopes. So to answer the question - no. My biggest goal in skiing was to make sure I knew how to slow down and stop.
4. What do you like most about this season? – After December I must admit I'm kind of ready for Spring. I like the holidays and I like wearing the cozy sweaters. Hot chocolate is pretty cool, too.
5. Do you celebrate Christmas, Hannukkah, Kwanzaa or another holiday during this time of year? – We're a multicultural family through marriage so we celebrate Christmas and Hannukkah with love and respect for both traditions.

It's December!

It's December and in Second Life that means new releases at events like The Arcade Gacha Event and FaMeshed. Pure Poison, one of my favorite jewelry makers, has this delightful star jewelry and clutch purse at the Arcade. I feel kind of bad ass in this eyepatch. Just don't call me the Governor. The D!va hair is also at the arcade. It comes with the option of starry hair decorations which you can turn off as I did for this photo. I love the versatility.

The jacket and skirt are new mix and match Baiastice releases at FaMeshed. My Arcade win of the Ingenue silver shoes was the perfect match!

Lastly, but certainly not least, an exciting new release at FaMeshed this month is Ikon's new mesh eyes. Finally Ikon mesh eyes and they're gorgeous!

Cowboy Hats and Bowties

If I think cowboy hats and bow ties are cool, what does that make me? Strawberry Singh made geeks, nerds, and dorks her challenge this week. It ties in nicely to my over the top excitement over the release of the Matt and David outfits from FATEplay introduced at the just opened Geeks'n'Nerds fair.

Clay really liked the David outfit best but since I liked the Karen outfit (also at the FATEplay booth) and his cowboy hat, I got bossy and we took this picture (as an aside, I switched the denim skirt in the Karen outfit with a leather one from Maitreya just for fun). Clay is back in the David outfit and I'll never get him out of it unless I can find a Spider Man costume somewhere.

My computer got overheated and I kept crashing or we'd have a decent picture of the 10th Doctor and Amy fighting zombies His pose and sonic screwdriver is from Hopscotch, the door and my pose is Tea.s  &  elephante poses  Dead Door. Both are available at Geeks'n'Nerds. I'm not sure that makes us nerds or geeks or maybe dorks, but it makes us something weird. 2. What was the first computer you ever owned? – The first one I ever owned was a Gateway. Horrid machine.
3. When and how did you first get on the internet? – It was work related. I had to get up to speed very quickly when I was put in charge of my company's investor relations department. The finance people were early adopters because we could check stock prices in (almost) real time.
4. Which geek fandom do you subscribe to? – Harry Potter. Fabulous books. And I recently caught up in Doctor Who. I still can't decide which is my favorite Doctor, but for companion it's Donna. Don't watch the video if you're not past Donna in the Doctor Who series. Spoilers!
5. Star Trek or Star Wars? – Star Trek because it made splitting infinitives cool.
6. How Geeky Are You? – I got 16%. Apparently geeks know another meaning for Ajax than a cleanser for the bathroom or a Trojan War hero in the Iliad.

Through the Snowy Woods

My first snow picture of the season! I was inspired to take it by the perfect DCNY jacket at the sale event My Attic at the Deck, and the beautiful snowy sim, Lucky Paradise. My home sim is still in the Autumn season but I'm getting excited for snow!

Walk on Clouds

The other day I went to Shoetopia, a charity event featuring shoes and more shoes. I made the rounds of the first sim, snatching up shoes to drool over until I was sated and my linden balance was pitifully low. So I went back yesterday to make the rounds of the second sim (landing point here). I've been looking for a loafer to work with my SLink feet and I fell in love with this pair from Gang/Cold. It's a 100% donation item to the charity Soles4Soles.

Introspection

This week for her meme, Strawberry Singh has challenged us to look inward. I'm kind of pouty about it because with Shoetopia going on right now I really want to look at my feet not my soul. Nevertheless, it's a good challenge and I'll give it a go.

1. Regardless of your current number, how old do you actually feel? – Without telling my actual age, I'd say I feel mid-thirties. I don't think we truly hit our strides until then.
2. Which is worse, failing or never trying? – Never trying, definitely. Unless it's parachuting out of an airplane.
3. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently? – I'd sing more.
4. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things? – I guess I try to do the right thing though sometimes it's difficult to know what that is.
5. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton? – I can't imagine being joyful as a simpleton, so I guess I'll stick with worried slightly above average.
6. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend? –You'd have to ask my friends about that. I try to be.
7. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset? Does it really matter now? – Uh...yeah.
8. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive? – Anytime I laugh with a friend.
9. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job? – I never thought I would, but if you give me the money we'll test that theory.
10. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today? – I'd gather my family together and feed them all their favorite foods.
11. What do you feel is the difference between being alive and truly living? – Being alive is getting through the tough times by putting one foot in front of another. Truly living is jumping off the cliff and trusting yourself to find your footing.
12. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? – I don't think I'm afraid to make small mistakes. But mistakes aren't all equal. Some are damn hard to come back from.
13. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? – I'd sing and dance a lot more.

In Heaven There Are Shoes Galore

All I can think of today is SHOES! Well, I may be able to stretch that to include BOOTS! Shoetopia is a shoe fair consisting of two sims full of the latest shoes and boots supporting the charity Soles4Souls. It has been packed with fashionistas from the moment it opened on November 15th and runs through the 30th. I managed to get into the first sim last night and the lag was not bad at all!

I'm showing new releases from SLink. She has introduced a new mesh foot especially for those high HIGH heels. Our appliers work just fine on the new feet. Siddean Munro, SLink's brilliant creator, also released new shoes and boots for our highest arched tootsies. The pink boots in the top photo is a 100% donation item to the worthy charity. I'm sure other creators are busy making sexy new releases to fit these feet, so invest and support a cause to boot! (see what I did there?)

BoHo HoBo

I ran into a friend while I was making the rounds of an event. She liked the scarf I was wearing (the Fatewear one from my last post) and looked all over the store trying to find it. That's when I realized it was a gacha item from last winter's Arcade and not in the store. Luckily it came in several sizes and I was able to pass her one. In return, she introduced me to a new store. I lucked out!

BoHo HoBo is the name of the store. There aren't many mesh items there, but what's there is GREAT! I picked up several versions of this scarf. The colors were just too tempting to pass up. The handbag is to die for, a realistic depiction of Afghan folk art. Even the sweater and jeans were available in unusual color combinations, but I went for a slightly understated color scheme to make the scarf and purse pop.

If everyone knows about this store, please pardon my gushing. If not, I urge you to go pick up some casually fun items for your wardrobe.

For the Chill - New Coats from coldLogic

I dress Dolly pretty much for the real life seasons. In the middle of a hot summer I can't bear to see her in a cozy sweater, for instance. And when the temperature drops I like to bundle up my virtual self as well. Luckily for me, coldLogic feels the same way and released two new styles of winter coats for the chilly days ahead. The Tilton coat I'm wearing has optional skirt and shirt layers to fit under the coat for the fashionista in me, but I could just as easily wear it over leggings or jeans.

The Best and the Worst of My Second Life

I discovered a new skin - Lena by Elysium. I'm a fan of many skins. Belleza, Glam Affair, Adam N Eve, Pixel Creations and Mirror's Enigma are recent favorites. And now I get to add Elysium to that group. It comes with three eyebrow colors and a no eyebrow option, frecked, non-freckled and cleavage versions. It also comes with appliers for our SLink hands and feet, an essential for me. Eye makeup and lipstick tattoo layers are sold separately. I discovered this skin by perusing MokaTana Boa's blog, Moka's Way. I love her blog posts, and her skin blogs are extensive and well done.

It's time to meme again, and Strawberry Singh has challenged us to reveal what we find to be the best and worst things about our Second Lives.

1. Best thing about Second Life: I adore Second Life. To try to pin down what I like best about it is kind of hard. I think the best thing is how I get to admire in a very new way people's artistic expression. Whether it be a sim installation, role play, live music, photos, fashion, or home design - I am blown away by the everyday creativity.
   Worst thing about Second Life: There are plenty of downsides, but I'll try to focus on what is the worst thing I have to deal with on a daily basis. Right now it's the blur - rez - blur cycle. I really don't want to have to buy a new computer!
2. Best thing in your inventory: My hair folder.
   Worst thing in your inventory: The number of hairs in my hair folder.
3. Best earliest SL memory: It's a tie. Going to a sim called October Country and listening to old radio plays, or going dancing and enjoying the company of my date.
   Worst earliest SL memory: Wearing a folder full of freebie furniture and having no idea how to remove any of it. Thank goodness for Mentors and how sad that newbies don't get that kind of help! 
4. Best thing you learned because of SL: I was reminded how stimulating it is to surround yourself with creative people.
   Worst thing you learned because of SL: I learned more about weird sexual fantasies than I really want to know. Some of those fantasies were even mine!
5. Best thing about blogging: It's an excuse to play dress up in things that I normally wouldn't wear day to day in my Second Life. I love taking pictures and sharing them. I hope I entertain my readers with humor and fashion.
   Worst thing about blogging: Entitlement. Entitled bloggers, entitled designers. So you don't get picked to be an official blogger of an event or designer? Cover them anyway if it's something you love. On the designer end, I am occasionally blown away by an attitude that bloggers work for them. We don't. We love you for what you do, but we're not your employees.
6. Best thing about my day: That first cup of coffee.
   Worst thing about my day: Falling asleep before Jon Stewart.

I Think This Is the Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship

This isn't exactly what Humphrey Bogart meant when he uttered those words in "Casablanca" but I couldn't help myself. Collabor88 has an industrial chic theme this month. I think the theme translates well in furniture, but in clothing the style isn't exactly my thing - until I saw how Toast Bard of Fashionably Dead translates it. Inventory Woes and Temptations

I'm going to blog about my Second Life inventory folder. It's a mess and the number keeps creeping up. As I began to write this, my inventory was showing 38,861 items. Oh wait! There's something in the trash! DELETE. Oh. 38,860. I know by many bloggers' standards my inventory is a good size. But it's going to creep ever higher, so I'm trying to do something about it.

I am always ready to talk about inventory management, I really am. I love to talk about it. I love to hear about other people's strategies for coping, for organization. But my problem is this - I hate doing anything about my inventory. It's BORING! That's why I'm blogging it. It's either that or shopping and you know what that does to a girl's inventory.

Goals

I'm setting a number goal. I want to reduce my inventory by 10,000 items. That's pretty ambitious, so let's call it a stretch goal. I'd probably settle for 5,000.

I also want to put away all those folders I have left out (relatively easy) and perhaps make a new folder or two for better organization. For instance, my life got easier when I had the bright idea of putting all of my shoes for my SLink feet in one folder. So much better!

Strategies

After some random deleting of boxed items I have already opened in my object folder I decided I needed a strategy. So I started with low-hanging fruit.

• First, the old deleting note cards strategy. I opened my inventory filter and checked only note cards then went through each folder happily highlighting note cards I know I don't need and hitting the delete button. Whew! Done, and my new inventory number is 38,021. I've done the deleting note cards bit before. It was a more dramatic change the first time, but still, a relatively painless way of getting rid of 840 items!
•  Second, the deleting extra landmarks strategy. It's just like the note cards strategy - boring, but effective and painless. Less than halfway through the landmarks I logged, so I'm not done but my inventory was down to 37,594.

Then I went to Collabor88 and bought stuff. Face palm. I always do this! Clearly this is a long term project. I'll keep you updated about my progress. I'm still down by more than a thousand items!

Cowboy Hats Are Cool

Bowties are cool, too. But I can't resist a man in a 10 gallon hat. I had a few ideas for a title for this blog post. My other top two were "How Do You Like My New Shoes?" and "But You Forgot the Pickles." I went with my first impulse since Clay's a Doctor Who fan and I'm working my way through the series. Guess Who I Look Like!

I didn't consciously design my avatar shape to look like anyone in particular. So when I saw Strawberry Singh's blog challenge for the week I didn't know how I was going to answer. I uploaded a picture to the Celebrity Look Alike Generator and was surprised but very pleased with my top result. According to that website, I most resemble Katherine Heigl! I lightened my hair for the picture in honor of that gorgeous blonde. I just wish Second Life allowed me to make that luminous smile of hers.

Dance to the Music In Your Head

I promised to blog more goodies from FaMeshed and here they are! Mutresse released a new sweater and shorts for the November round of FaMeshed. Like earlier releases both are expertly crafted and come with a color-change HUD for customization.  This is definitely a store to watch for every new release.

I Think I'll Go Shopping

When the first of the month comes around all the bloggers get busy with new releases. Monthly events begin, new items are released, and I go shopping. One of my favorite shops, coldLogic, closed down for about a week and reopened with a rebuild. It looks absolutely gorgeous. And they released two new dresses for the occasion! Yay!

My hair is from Exile and available through November at FaMeshed, the monthly showcase for new original mesh creations. The Loft floor planter, the stack of books and cactus from Aria are also at FaMeshed this month. Look for more FaMeshed goodies in my next post.

I'm also loving the color change dresser from Digs. It was available for Fifty Linden Friday and I apologize that I didn't get my blog picture done in time for the savings, but it's a great piece at any price.

The Laundry Room

Dutchie has put laundry on my mind. She released this remarkably detailed and beautiful period laundry room complete with appropriate (and inappropriate) animations for my washing up roleplay fantasies. It also makes me grateful for my washer and dryer. Laundry was hard work back in the day! But never fear, my Dolly maid is planning on some fun. The adult version of this table folds more than laundry!

Happy HallowMeme!

I'm ready for Halloween. I've been blogging possible Halloween costumes for several days, but for Strawberry Singh's HallowMeme I'm happy to do another picture and show off my awesome new Lelutka hair.

1. Did you go trick or treating as a child? Yes, I wrote about those mean scary cowboys in THIS POST.
2. What was the best Halloween costume you ever saw or wore yourself? I met a young woman right after college whose fiance dumped her almost at the altar. Rather than moping, she wore her wedding dress to a big block party on Halloween and won first prize!
3. What is your most vivid memory about Halloween? It's back to those nasty scary cowboys. But second to that was one of my friends who got so excited about getting dressed up to go trick or treating that she threw up before we even left the house. My tummy aches always came afterwards when I stuffed myself with candy.
4. What is the scariest movie you have ever seen? "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock. My sister and I saw it on TV when we were kids and were creeped out by birds for months and months.
5. Do you ever get nightmares after watching a scary movie? Not for years. However, when I started watching "The Walking Dead" on NetFlix this past spring I had nightmares after the first two episodes.
6. Are you superstitious? If so, name at least one superstition of yours. I'm not really, but I do get influenced by other people's superstitions. My mother-in-law, for example was constantly knocking on wood to ward off jinxes when she would say something hopeful. I find myself doing that at times and explaining my action to myself by thinking "it can't hurt."
7. What will you be doing for Halloween this year, if anything, in SL and RL? In my real life I'll probably be passing out candy and trying to keep my dog from being freaked out by excited children dressed like pumpkins and bumblebees. I'm not sure about what I'll do in Second Life.

Oh, the Horror!

I have a confession. On the first Halloween that I remember, my mother dressed me up as a witch and I went door to door getting candy. About three houses away from home there were three big boys of about six years old (they seemed big to me at the time) dressed as cowboys. They saw me and screamed, "It's a witch!" took out their toy six shooters and shot at me - pretend, of course. That terrified me, and ever since I've been a princess or a fairy or even a fairy princess at Halloween. No more scary costumes for me! Even my pumpkins have to wear a smile!

I did find a few Halloween themed items at Horror Fest that managed to be a little eerie if not horrific. The sugar skull tattoos from Ezura Xue are pretty! So is my webbed dress from Schadenfreude and the raven pose and props from Uncertain Smile Poses.

Thinking It Over

I'm not going to do Strawberry Singh's challenge questions this week, though I really admire her willingness to take on a controversial subject. She's trying to start an informed and rational dialog about the Terms of Service change that has Second Life creators rethinking their plans. Everyone should read her post and the links she has provided to several knowledgeable and thought provoking articles and presentations about the subject of intellectual property ownership in Second Life.

I have only one thing to say on the subject. The very best thing about Second Life is that it is a platform for creativity. Since this change to Terms of Service is causing talented artists to rethink using Second Life as a tool for artistic expression, it needs to be revised to be more creator friendly. I really don't understand why Linden Lab doesn't see that.

Come With Me

I got two unsolicited compliments yesterday on my Chemistry coat. When that happens I think "Blog it!" Then Truth released new hair, and the windswept look of the short style, Harley, made me think of David Tennant's wild hair in Dr. Who - except prettier and more girlie, of course! Then Clay told me on Plurk that I was sexier now that I was watching Dr. Who. That made me pull out of my inventory the big blue box from Hopscotch. So this blog post arose out of ALL those things!

I'm new to the Dr. Who party, but I'm catching up and already loving Donna (NO SPOILERS PLEASE!). I'm thinking the Doctor could regenerate into a woman just one time, don't you?

Perfect for Fall

I have great news for coldLogic fans! Two new casual dress styles were just released. They're perfect Fall dresses to accessorize with boots, leggings and scarves.

I get all excited by newness in my inventory. But there is definitely a place for the tried and true. When I did an inventory search for leggings to accessorize my look, I thought these cute lacy leggings from G Field gave my new classic styled sweater dress and belt a little style punch. And I've had them for a couple of years!

The second new dress is a little flirty and boho. I love it with my Ison boots and Ispachi scarf!

Strawberry Singh's meme/challenge for this week is a mash-up of questions she wrote and questions from the new-to-me and very entertaining blog called SLTimeWellWasted. My title for this blog is what the meme is about - Googling ourselves and seeing what happens. You know what? I'm old enough that "googling myself" still sounds vaguely naughty. ;-p

Optional: click over to Emily’s blog and do her Google challenge as well. Don’t forget to leave a comment in her post if you end up doing it, so she can come stalk you guys too!

Here are Berry's questions:

1. Google your Second Life name in “quotations” and share your results. About 10,100 results
2. What is the first link that comes up? My blog.
3. Which link were you surprised to see? Apparently I was the victim of a vampire in 2008. Funny, I never felt a thing! 
4. Click on the “Image” tab and tell us where the first 5 pictures listed are from. The first two pictures are my photos on Google+. The third and fourth pictures are from other blogs that mention me, and the fifth is a RL Dolly Baroque dress! 
5. Click on the “more” tab and then click “news” and share your results. Dolly's just not newsworthy, I guess.

Here are Emily's questions about comparing our SL and RL digital footprints:

1. How did the two digital footprints compare, and did that surprise you? Dolly is much more popular on the web than the real life me and that's just fine by me! I used to be a corporate spokesperson and most of my real life entries are just quotes in articles about boring business stuff.
2. Does anyone interesting share your name? Not my real name or my SL name either. I guess both of my names are rather uncommon.
3. Are you happy with the size of your digital footprint, or do you wish either one was larger/smaller? Oh I'm fine with the footprint I have in both worlds.
4. If you woke up/ logged in one morning to discover over night you had suddenly gained rock-star status, and everybody knew who you were and wanted to know what you were doing… what would you do? Hey, talking about shareholder meetings and quarterly earnings isn't rock star stuff? Dolly would be a much better rock star and she would love it for the first ten minutes. The other five minutes of fame would just be a pain.

Finally, back to our regularly scheduled program, PXL Creations has a specialty skin for its VIP group. A new version of the gorgeous skin called Jade in Halloween makeup inspired me to dye my hair to look like a very pretty witch.
