Shower Her With Annual Reports and Silk Stockings

Strawberry Singh's meme/challenge of the week is about our Zodiac signs. Oh my!

Meme instructions: Copy and paste the following questions and answers into your post; then delete my answers and input your own. Don’t forget to leave a comment on Berry's post with a link to your post so we can all come by and check it out!
  1. What is your birthday and/or Zodiac sign? – My real life birthday is in January and I am a Capricorn.
  2. Do you believe in or follow astrology? – I'm ambivalent. I don't follow my horoscope in the paper because - well - how vague can you be, right?
  3. Do you feel your sign’s attributes reflect who you are? – I've learned from an astrologer friend that a sun sign (mine being Capricorn) is only part of the story. She calls me a double 12th house Capricorn - because my sun and moon are both in Capricorn in the 12th house (the house of secrets - sort of Pisces related). We're ruled by Saturn who I think ate his children in the myth. He's kind of a stern taskmaster. How other people perceive me (according to her) is by my rising sign. It has something to do with the exact time we're born. For me that's Aquarius and that's good because Capricorns have a stern rep, but Aquarians are associated with Hippies - a lot more fun. I have a bunch of planets there, but I don't want to bore you with my arcane knowledge of the astrological meanings of Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter. All that said, my favorite Capricorn description was on a Sylvia calendar from years ago. It said something like "To capture the attention of the Capricorn goddess, shower her with annual reports and silk stockings. She's ambitious, loves classy things and has good legs." That's me in a nutshell if you add to that list a nice shiny espresso machine.
  4. Have you ever been to a psychic or astrologer either in RL or in SL?  My friend has been an astrologer since the 70's. She has read my chart many times. Her philosophy (she's a Jungian) is that the alignment of the planets in your birth chart is a map of strengths and weaknesses in your psyche. But she doesn't see astrology as fortune telling, more as a jumping off point to self-knowledge based on the collective unconscious.
  5. Do you read your horoscope daily and try to follow any advice, recommendations or warnings it may have for you that day? Oh lord no!
  6. Do you have very strong feelings about astrology, either negative or positive? Strong feelings? No. I do like reading annual reports and wearing silky stockings on special occasions. Eerie, yes?

I Hear Voices

I'm not really Joan of Arc, it's just the hair to show off my - did you see it? EARS!

I was thrilled when I got my first pair of non-system feet. I was also delighted with my new SLink mesh hands. I confess I never thought much about my SL ears except as an attachment point for earrings until I saw the new Mandala ear release. Now I want another pair - a non-pierced pair to which I will attach my large number of earrings. I can HEAR!  (Oh and hair designers, since I'm in the asking mood, could you do some new releases showing lots of sexy ear lobes? Thanks in advance. Love and kisses for all that you do from your best customer, Dolly)

While I'm so excited about my new ears, I can't neglect to tell you about my new clothes. Don't you love this sweater and pants? They're brand new releases from coldLogic. Wow. I want this outfit in both of my lives.

This beautiful sim I found on Flickr. It's called Gra' Siorai' or Appassionata, I'm a little fuzzy on that. It is definitely worth a visit.

No Sour Grapes

Heehee, I couldn't resist the title.  Here's a fun take on a fairy tale motif from Fairy Tales 2012.  Don't you dare pluck my grapes, they're not ripe yet.

I fell asleep in the slow movement

This is something that really happened to me at a chamber music recital when I was very tired.  I was sitting in the front row, too.  In my defense, it was the second movement of a Schoenberg quartet.

Where's the coffee?

This gorgeous little Celoe dress isn't a nightgown as this scene implies, but it could be. I love the flow, the length, the barely holding it on straps...

Ayla introduced me to booN hair the other day.  I love the tousled look of this updo!  Enough fashion talk.  Take me to the coffee, please.

One Bad Pixel!

One Bad Pixel launched their all mesh brand yesterday and after seeing sneaky teasers all week I was itching to try on some demos.  I wasn't disappointed.  The mesh designs are superb and if I wasn't lacking in Linden I would have bought the whole collection.  I opted for this Asian styled Cherry Cheong dress in Platinum, and it's fair to say it's not coming off today.

There's a competition running to try and guess who the designers are.  I am pretty sure about one of them.  The other?  I'm going to have to do a little investigating!

Glamour at Celoe

Who doesn't love a little black dress. It's the height of glamour, although this little number by Celoe comes in other colors as well.  For me, glamour is usually black - when it isn't red.

A dress with this sheen and these lines doesn't need much.  Red lipstick from Glam Affair, an elegant updo from booN, statement earrings and red nails from Mandala are all I needed to be ready for a night at the opera.

Evie's Closet at The Fantasy Faire!

From Saturday April 21 to Sunday April 29, 2012, thousands of Second Life residents and creators will come together to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer. Nine Second Life sims will be transformed into the Fairelands, a fantasy continent created to host Fantasy Faire 2012, to benefit Relay for Life of Second Life (RFL of SL).

Today I am previewing the Evie's Closet gown, Lenka in Henbane, her donation for Relay for Life.  When you buy this dress all proceeds go to charity. Isn't it just gorgeous?  The detail and she puts in to each of her gowns, or whatever she designs, is clearly evident.  One of the things I love most about the dresses are the way they flow.  I know mesh has its place, but for me you will never take away that floaty, princessy feeling I get when I throw on a gown like this.  Make this your first Fantasy Faire purchase, donate to a good cause and be the owner of this stunning dress Evie's Closet dress!

This is the first time since I've taken up blogging that I've been an official blogger for an event.  I hope it doesn't show.  This morning I've been all a dither because I wanted to get things perfect and I've been feeling somewhat starstruck getting to blog for Evie, one of my favourite designers.  I've been buying Evie's Closet gowns since 2007!

I kept my look today very simple because I didn't want to detract from the star of the show.
