I've always had a thing for a sailor, but for this Memorial Day I salute all the Armed Forces and their families for their bravery and sacrifice. To our Afghanistan troops in particular, come home safely and soon.

Collabor88 Goodies for April

I'm late in pointing out how great Collabor88 is this month, especially if you like florals and other girlie-girl goodies. But I'm not too late! My First SL Video - The Dance Meme

I am so excited! Because Strawberry Singh decided on a dance challenge for her blog meme this week I have actually made my first SL video! Yeah, it's not great, but I figured out some basics. I used Berry's recommended video capture software, Camtasia. There's a 30 day free trial, so I'm able to play with it a bit before committing to buying. Thanks Berry for prompting me to try something I've wanted to learn for a long time!

Meme Instructions: Share a photo and/or video of your avatar dancing in Second Life. Also answer the following questions and share your favorite dances and animation stores with us. Don’t forget to leave a link to your post in the comments and share your pictures in the Blog Memes Flickr Group.

1. Which dance are you sharing in the image/video and where is it from? I have HUDs filled with dances. The dance HUD I used in the video is filled with Vista Animations pop dances.
2. Which is your favorite dance in Second Life? – The old Bits and Bobs couples dances. They are awesome to watch.
3. What are your favorite dance animation stores in Second Life? – I haven't shopped for dances in quite awhile. Unlike clothes and skins, well made animations don't get too dated in SL, so oldies can still be goodies.
4. Are you a frequent dancer in Second Life? – Not so much lately, but Ayla, April and I like to get together and dance sometimes.
5. Are you a frequent dancer in the real world? – LOL. I used to dance for exercise, then I broke my ankle (not while dancing), and my dancing days seem to be over.

Fashionably Dead has new store releases and I was taken by this lively satin textured romper, which actually comes in three pieces, top, shorts and peplum belt. Show up for cocktails in this instead of the little black dress!

Almost the End of Summer

When summer comes to a close the days are warm but the evenings get a little nippy. Usually. Where I live we're having the hottest weather all summer, but at coldLogic there's a chill in the air. So the new release dress and jacket combos are perfect for the changeable weather. To add a little color from my black and white Karr dress, I combined it with the berry jacket from the Roberts combo. I'm feeling quite the lady today!

I realized something when I saw Strawberry Singh's meme this week. I can't do it justice. I want to - it's a terrific meme about taking pictures of favorite sims. But I'm on a four year old MacBook Pro and for me Second Life is lately (and by lately I mean about the past six or seven months at least) a blur-rez-blur-rez cycle of textures. To get a halfway decent photo I need to be in controlled circumstances and either hold everything in the picture in edit mode, or check in the develop menu under rendering "render full textures" and hope I don't fry my graphics card in the process. On my favorite sims I've been unable to take a picture with textures that fully rez.

I had hoped that once server side baking was up and running that maybe it would ease that blurring cycle, but it hasn't. I hate that improvements to Second Life mean that a four year old laptop, otherwise in fine shape, becomes obsolete, but it seems that is what has happened. I'm kind of bummed about that.

The background for my photo above is my home at Alterior Living. My friend Aprilmae Devin owns the sim. Ayla and I rent from her. If you're looking for a beautiful place to call home, there are a couple of parcels unrented. Here's the best that I can do in the spirit of the meme. This is a raw shot of the place I call home in Second Life.

I've been away or planning to be away for a few days. Between that and discussing new roleplay characters for the Wendigo Lake roleplay sim I've hardly taken a picture lately (more about Wendigo Lake in another post). As I mused about what to do for a photo, I received a notice from Valentina E of a new product. WHOA! End of musing. My Applause Bikini is inspired by none other than Lady Gaga. Come on everybody! Let's give the girl a hand (or two to cover her backside). Also it's a great excuse to get the Hucci sandal/boots that fit my SLink feet. What else could I possibly wear with this bikini? If you run out to buy the bikini (you know you want to) check the marketplace first. It wasn't in the store when I rushed over to buy. Just so you know, the second photo is a teensy bit NSFW.

We Heard That Gentlemen Preferred Blondes

The other day my good friend and fellow mischief maker, Aprilmae Devin, commented on my Vintage Women post. I was a brat in return and practically ORDERED her to make some Marilyn Monroe poses. She makes very very naughty animations and some less naughty poses (because I make her do it). Here's a TP to Alterior Motions if you're adult verified.

Well, she did it. Marilyn poses! We donned our favorite Hucci costumes, rustled up a couple of top hats from another outfit and took a picture. The Marilyn poses will be released soon.

I took another photo because April made several poses and I was messing around with projectors. I'm also a magpie who had to have the latest One Bad Pixel release because - ooh look - spangles!

My skin, which I blogged in my last post, is PXL Creations' Love Donna Flora donation item. It's the best Marilyn Monroe inspired skin that I've ever seen!

Stepping Out

I'm very happy when coldLogic releases new dresses. This style, my favorite of the latest new releases, shows some skin while staying classy. It also works beautifully with my new hat and hair from Lelutka. The texture change hat is separate, so it can be worn with another hair - or just slip a different hat over the sleek rigged mesh hair. How's that for versatile?

Let's Go Into the Dark Forest

With all the fun movie posters floating around because of Strawberry Singh's totally rocking challenge, I picture this woodsy photo in terms of a movie. "Come on," says clueless bimbo. "Let's go deep into the dark forest and mess around!" We all know what happens next. At the very least she sprains her ankle in her heels and the mosquitoes attack with a vengeance.

OK, back to fashion. I went to The Dressing Room Fusion and immediately loved the shorty short skirt from Baiastice. Bless her, she even made built in undies for the skirt! It comes in three versions, and I recommend picking up all of them. At $70L a piece it's a true bargain.

I took my alt Callie to pick up the skirt, too, and the Kungler necklace. I honestly couldn't decide which picture to show, so I showed both. And what do you know, we're both in the same pose, one of a free gift pack for June from Diesel Works, and sporting everybody's favorite new Truth hair, Candy!

Catching a Breeze in coldLogic

Just in time for summer comes a new release from coldLogic of two lovely summer dress styles in many summer colors. If I had to choose, I'd pick the longer dress because it drapes beautifully. I can almost feel the breeze as I walk. Of course, choosing is too hard, so I'm wearing the shorter dress too.

The Hucci sandals I'm wearing that fit over SLink feet are from FaMeshed. They're so great that I really wish I'd fatpacked them.

Abloom in June

There are so many amazing new releases that it took me awhile to figure out what to do first. I finally decided on the Baiastice maxi dress from the new June FaMeshed event. Hucci had some darling shoes to add to my SLink feet that suited the dress perfectly (see below picture). My Maxi Gossamer ring is also from FaMeshed.

The lilac flowers and pose are from Adorkable's gacha items for The Arcade Gacha Event, always a fun madhouse. Adorkable has announced that she'll be closing her store soon, which is heartbreaking news. I'm still trying to recover from the closing of Olive Juice! Still, best of luck to Adorkable.

My Truth hair (what a perfect casual shorter hair!) and Mandala star earrings are also new releases, though not part of an event.

A bloggers work is never done. Even in the middle of winter, through blizzards, hail and high winds, we are out scouting for new inspiration. Just happens I didn't have to look far for this picture. Girly and Sexy

My Beautiful Sister Louise

Louise and I met back in 2006 and only a few weeks later we were thrust together as twins for role-play reasons.  But it went beyond that and we have been sisters ever since, even though we may not be twins anymore.  You know when you meet someone and there is just that instant click?  Well that was us.  She's crazy, funny and loving and we have shared so many good times over the years. I do love her to bits.

A few weeks ago I decided that she needed a makeover.  She had been wearing our twin shape since 2006 and was desperately needing an overhaul and she agreed.  So we started on her skin, shape and hair, seen here, blogged by Dolly.  Last weekend we completed the final part of her make-over and took her on a shopping spree.  Sadly, the shape she had bought the other week didn't fit mesh too well and it was no mod, so I had to make her a new one, hopefully capturing a similar look.  She loves it anyway and she does look gorgeous.

Once I had taken a few shots of her new look, Louise, Dolly and I all threw on our new bunny girl outfits for a fun snap together.  We ALL look very different from when we first met all those years ago and thank the lord!  So much has changed on Second Life since then and all for the better.  With no may talented creators our AV's come to life and look less cartoony as they did in 2006/7.
