September at FaMeshed

Because it's September now I think it should be Autumn, though Summer officially lasts until the 21st. But for now I'll pretend there's a nip in the air and don this cozy sweater and matching skirt from Cracked Mirror for this month's FaMeshed. The bridge I'm crossing is a new release from Botanical, available this month at FaMeshed.

I'm also loving the tousled short new release hair from Lelutka (even though it's not at FaMeshed).

What's New?

Do you like My Hair? It's from Monso and it's materials ready. See the glint in the hair? The shine moves with the sun when shadows are enabled. It's subtle, but adds richness to our 3D environment.  My new hair is only one of several new releases that I'm excited about.

The Maxi Gossamer necklace and earrings and the DARLING twist on a denim skirt from Baiastice are available through the month of August at FaMeshed along with the Monso hair. My top, and the sandals that are add-ons for SLink feet, are both new at Beetlebones. I so wish I'd fatpacked the sandals!
This mesh gate and fence set by Botanical is only available at FaMeshed through August. It's  gorgeous with so many building options.  I want to redo my land just to set it off!

I Can Walk In These Shoes

This post wouldn't have happened if Clay Cowen hadn't pointed out a series of Jimmy Choo shoe ads that made him think of me - a redhead with a shoe obsession. I passed the link on to Aprilmae Devin who made some very nice sitting poses (not yet released) for her store, Alterior Motions - some inspired by the ads. All I needed was a new pair of shoes and the Gos Boutique Lauren d'Orsay shoes at The Liaison Collaborative Boutique were the clear winners.

Botanicals is at Collabor88 this month with a romantic ruin that makes a terrific backdrop for photos. I of course had to snatch it right up.

My Second Life Is But a Dream...

I did a little landscape shopping and added Botanical's water lilies to my pond. I also picked up the newest chair from the mini event, Atelier Kreslo, this time a collaboration between Pilot and Fri.day. I was more into taking a serene and peaceful picture than in shooting a fashion photo, because I'm waiting for the June events like FaMeshed and The Arcade Gacha events to begin. So I'll just briefly run down what I'm wearing then sit on my dock and do some much needed inventory maintenance.

More Fantasy Faire 2013

Maybe if I'd asked for early access to Fantasy Faire 2013 I could have taken pictures of the sims.  As I didn't, you will have to take my word for it that Fantasy Faire is a visual treat, and you must go see it yourself.  I'll just nudge you toward the items I like - this dress and cape from The Muses, for example, with 100% of the purchase price going to Relay for Life's cancer research.  All I need now is a dragon or two and I'll take over Westeros (you Game of Thrones fans know what I mean).  You can find The Muses with Bilo on the Crimson Fields sim.

I tend to focus on mesh clothing in this blog, and I'm happy to report that there is more mesh this year at Fantasy Faire.  I've noticed that many of the fantasy clothing designers mix system and mesh clothing.  The bra for this outfit is system.  I'm not sure why, and I don't mind.  It doesn't distract at all from the look of the outfit. OOOOH....maybe it's so I can flash the girls!

The vine arbor in the background of this picture is from Botanical and can be found at the Liaison Collaborative's Garden event.

Home Is Always A Work in Progress

I try to blog regularly, but I got distracted after going to see the beautiful Neva River, which is only open to the public for a limited time.  It inspired me to redo my little bit of Second Life, and I borrowed liberally from Neva Crystall's vision.  See her blog HERE for more information.  The Studio Skye path leading to the steps of the house, and indeed the house from Culprit, I discovered by wandering her sim.  The tree tunnel from Studio Skye is a particular favorite.

I added a pond in front of the house.  To the rear is a bay.  On the right side of the house is a stream that begins with a waterfall.  I find water features restful and in Second Life they're also prim savers if you have terraform rights.

I can't - nor would I want to - exactly recreate Neva's beautiful sim.  I'm adding elements from it and giving credit where it is due.

The trees are from Deco and Botanical, grasses from Rustica, rocks and waterfall from Studio Skye.  The pictures are raw shots with Annan Adored windlight settings and shadows turned on.

Sometimes I Forget How Special Second Life Can Be

We rail against Second Life's shortcomings plenty.  We lag, we crash, we get weird gridlines in our pictures - but something draws us there and keeps us coming back.  For me it's my friends and the creativity that is all around me in-world.  Every item in this photo - the grass, buildings, rocks, trees, to the pose of my avatar, the windlight setting, not to mention skin, hair, and clothes - is someone's vision.  I put them together and snap a picture to share my vision, too.  Just doing a quick count, I think there are works of at least 17 different creators represented in this photo.  I've been in Second Life long enough that I sometimes forget just how unique it truly is.

Creator List:

Botanical - trees
Heart - trees and rocks
Rustica - rocks and grasses
UrbanizeD - grasses
Deco - trees
Post - red building
The Domineaux Effect - covered bridge
Studio Skye - rock waterfall
Cheeky Pea and Pilot - backyard lights
What Next - umbrella pose prop
Fashionably Dead - hair
coldLogic - sweater
Cracked Mirror - skirt (at FaMeshed)
Baiastice - boots
Maxi Gossamer - Necklace
SLink - hands
Glam Affair - skin
Windlight - Annan Adored
